Cuddle Earth’s mission is to make a positive impact on our planet and wildlife, and to inspire others to actively come together to do the same. We understand the importance for our company to operate in a responsible manner and we carry with us the expectation that our customers want to buy from a company that works hard to integrate sustainable and responsible practices into all that it does. Throughout our mission in protecting our planet, we will continue to grow our impact and communicate with you throughout our special journey, and that’s a promise!
As a proud member of the British Toy and Hobby Association (BTHA), we source our goods from worldwide suppliers. We ensure that these suppliers and manufacturers use ethical means to produce our goods; they definitely have our seal of approval! The minimum requirement of a Cuddle Earth supplier is ICTI Ethical Toy Program certification, as well as appropriate factory audit reports (WCA and/or BSCI) from a reputable source with a presence in the European Union such as Intertek.
Our team at Cuddle Earth are aware of the challenges associated with overseeing a global supply chain, and to ensure that our corporate responsibility standards are upheld, our global staff actively manage and oversee our manufacturers.
Cuddle Earth will only be working with reputable manufacturers who conform to acceptable working conditions and operating practices. We prohibit the sourcing of products and/or materials from suppliers who impose unethical working conditions and practices on its workers.
It’s not just the planet’s back that we have covered! We operate an equal opportunities policy for all our employees and provide them with fair terms of employment, and we expect the same from our suppliers who operate the same policy. Safeguards are also provided that ensure that all our employees, whatever nationality, race, sexual orientation or religious belief are treated with respect and without sexual, physical or mental harassment.
Suppliers shall meet the relevant minimum standards applicable in the Country of Origin, and these shall include:
-
Health & Safety
-
Minimum Wage Requirements
-
Equal Opportunities
-
Prohibition of Child and Slave Labour
Face-to-face communication plays a major part in the way we purchase our materials. It allows us to foster good, honest, long-term productive relationships with the producers and suppliers we work with. This guarantees an uninterrupted supply of good quality materials to create our products, and we are able to ensure our suppliers understand the needs of our business.
Protection of the environment in which we live and operate is an integral part of Cuddle Earth’s mission. At Cuddle Earth we consider it to be the only way to conduct our daily business activities. Care for the environment is viewed as one of our key responsibilities.
These responsibilities are:
-
Complying with all relevant environmental legislation, regulations and approved codes of practice in all countries in which we operate.
-
Creating products and packaging with zero plastic, using sustainable vegan, natural or GOTS certified organic materials wherever possible.
-
Protecting the environment by striving to prevent and minimise our contribution to pollution of land, air, and water.
-
Seeking to keep wastage to a minimum and maximise the efficient use of materials and resources.
-
Managing and disposing of all waste in a responsible manner, recycling wherever possible.
-
Providing training for our staff so that we all work in accordance with this policy and within an environmentally aware culture.
-
Organising, participating, and funding events which contribute to the care of our planet, namely to date our work with Surfers Against Sewage.
-
Regularly communicating our environmental performance to our employees and other stakeholders.
-
Developing our management processes to ensure that environmental factors are considered during planning and implementation.
-
Monitoring and continuously improving our environmental performance.
We are passionate to inspire the movement of a better protected planet and as we grow with our movement, we are committed to becoming more sustainable by using our buying power to drive positive change. Through our mission, we are also able to support and help finance some really worthwhile and forward-thinking projects worldwide that makes us incredibly proud.
Our commitment to taking care of the environment flows throughout Cuddle Earth and is at the forefront of everything that our team does. We believe that protecting the environment is everyone’s responsibility, which is why we set example to our customers through our business practices and values, nothing but the best!
Energy is embedded into Cuddle Earth and is used to produce, sell and transport your cuddly organic companion! But every day we are working to reduce the amount of energy used, and we have been doing that by making our processes more energy efficient, getting our team to switch off (not literally), replacing less efficient equipment, generating some of our own energy on-site and increasing insulation. We are currently designing our new fully solar powered offices for next year.
This policy statement is regularly reviewed and updated as necessary. The Cuddle Earth management team endorses these policy statements and is fully committed to their implementation.
